It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to our First Academic Conference
of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Which held by the Office of Professional Training at the Faculty of Dentistry,
Damascus University in cooperation with the departments of Orthodontics at the
four major government-run universities in Syria.
As it is known, our Office of Professional Training has always accentuated the
intensive interaction between the community, the world of work, and the academic
and educational sector.
The office’s academic initiative and educational agenda have motivated and
involved continuously convening a series of scientific conferences and arranging
various training workshops and courses .
These activities have always opened up exceptional opportunities and prospects
for the faculty and conveyed scientific and academic proficiency for the
graduate students. as well as benefits and financial support for both the
institution and the faculty
This gathering is considered a cutting-edge event as it has adopted and
reinforced a one-disciplinary approach in dentistry by highlighting the
innovative techniques and methodologies in the field of orthodontics, taking
into consideration this field’s scientific development and recent healthy
advancement.
This conference addresses particular and critical topics in the field of
orthodontics, such as:
-The criteria of quality assurance and accreditation in theorthodontic
treatment,
-facial growth types and orthodontic treatment
- congenital Dentofacial deformities
- stability and retention in orthodontic treatment
and other free topics.
Our diverse conference intends to elicit and implement the extensive academic
knowledge and professional experience presented by established, renowned, and
world-known scholars in the field of orthodontics.
In addition, it highlights the evolving strands of research locally and
internationally conducted by promising and young scholars and academics from the
Syrian universities
Thus, we envision the consolidation and integration of exceptional academic and
scientific experience needed for both the Orthodontist and Dentist.
I take this opportunity to deeply thank all my colleagues in the departments of
orthodontics at Damascus, Aleppo, Tishreen, and Al-Baath universities for making
the process of this conference preparation a smooth and efficient activity
I enormously thank the graduate assistants and the staff at the Faculty of
Dentistry and the Office of Professional Training for their continuous
contribution and joint commitment to facilitate and manage the conference’s
on-site logistics.
Special thanks to the orthodontic and dental supply companies in Syria for their
generous financial support
I sincerely thank our guest keynote speakers and presenters who have traveled
from other countries, Germany, Norway, USA, and Russia, to demonstrate and share
their outstanding orthodontic training and education at this conference. I hope
that they will bring with them back home some good memories in Syria
Special thanks to the local presenters and participants for expanding the scope
of research and scholarship and cultivating the culture of learning in the
Syrian academy
Last but not least, I would like to extend most sincere thanks to the president
of Damascus University Prof. Dr. Wael Mualla for his enormous support of this
conference and constant promotion of all scientific and academic activities at
Damascus University, in general, and the Faculty of Dentistry, in particular
I wish you all an interesting discussion and a fruitful conference over the next
